This five-day safari is a journey through Kenya’s most diverse and contrasting wilderness regions — from the lush, untamed beauty of Meru National Park, to the rugged northern frontier of Samburu National Reserve, and finally to the conservation-rich plains of Ol Pejeta Conservancy.
Designed with the signature storytelling and flow of Mbutu Tours & Safaris, this experience offers not just wildlife viewing, but a deep connection to landscapes, ecosystems, and conservation — each destination revealing a new layer of Kenya’s wild soul.
Nairobi Hotel, Airport
Your safari begins at 6:00 AM as you depart Nairobi, heading into Kenya’s fertile highlands. The morning unfolds with rolling tea plantations, coffee farms, and misty hills — a gentle and scenic introduction to your journey.
As you approach Meru National Park, the landscape transforms into a lush wilderness — dotted with rivers, palms, and thick vegetation. This park, once home to Elsa the Lioness of Born Free fame, feels wild, remote, and deeply authentic.
Arrive at Ikweta Safari Camp in time for lunch and check-in. After some relaxation, you head out at 4:00 PM for an evening game drive. The golden light filters through the greenery as you explore areas near the Tana River and the park’s numerous streams — attracting elephants, buffalo, and a variety of wildlife.
Return to camp at sunset for dinner and overnight.

Wake up to the soft sounds of the wild and enjoy breakfast before checking out.
The journey north leads you into drier, more rugged terrain — a striking contrast to Meru’s greenery. Soon, the dramatic landscapes of Samburu National Reserve unfold before you, defined by open plains, rocky outcrops, and the winding Ewaso Nyiro River.
Arrive at Ashnil Samburu Camp in time for lunch and check-in. After a brief rest, you head out at 4:00 PM for an evening game drive.
The reserve comes alive in the golden hour — keep watch for elephants gathering at the riverbanks, reticulated giraffes moving gracefully, and perhaps the elusive leopard resting in the shade.

The day begins early with breakfast, followed by departure for a full-day game drive across Samburu National Reserve with packed lunch.
The experience is immersive and expansive — traversing dry riverbeds, open plains, and the vibrant banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, where wildlife gathers in this otherwise arid land.
This is the perfect day to search for the Samburu Special Five — species uniquely adapted to this environment — as well as lions, cheetahs, and a variety of birdlife.
Midday, enjoy a picnic lunch in the wild — a quiet moment surrounded by nature.
In the afternoon, continue your game drive or opt for a cultural visit (extra cost), where you experience the traditions and lifestyle of the Samburu people.
Return to camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.
