This three-day safari from the Kenya coast combines Tsavo East and Tsavo West National Parks.

Tsavo East brings rugged scenery, open savannahs and red-dust elephants, while Tsavo West adds Mzima Springs, lava flows and scenic landscapes. Game drives in both parks make it a well-rounded short safari from Mombasa or Diani.

Day by day

Day 1

Mombasa to Tsavo East National Park

Pick-up at about 5:00 am from Mombasa, Diani or Malindi, reaching Bachuma Gate by mid-morning for a game drive. After lunch, the afternoon game drive includes Aruba Dam.

Stay Mid-range: Ashnil Aruba Lodge or Voi Safari Lodge. Luxury: Satao Camp or Voi Wildlife Lodge

Day 2

Tsavo East to Tsavo West National Park

An early game drive, then a transfer of about three hours to Tsavo West. After lunch, the afternoon game drive includes Mzima Springs and the lava flows.

Stay Mid-range: Ngulia Safari Lodge. Luxury: Severin Safari Camp or Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge

Day 3

Tsavo West to Mombasa

An early game drive and breakfast, then a game drive en route as you leave the park. You are back in Mombasa or Diani by late afternoon.
