Overview

This two-day safari is an easy escape from the coast. From Diani Beach you travel through the red-earth plains of Tsavo East National Park, known for its open landscapes and abundant wildlife, and on to the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary.

The night is spent at Salt Lick Safari Lodge, overlooking rolling plains and waterholes, with game drives in both areas.

Day by day

Day 1

Diani Beach to Tsavo East and Salt Lick Safari Lodge

Pick-up from Diani at 4:30 am for the drive of 2.5 to 3 hours to Bachuma Gate, followed by a game drive of about 1.5 hours and lunch near Aruba Dam at Ashnil Aruba Lodge or Sentrim Safari Lodge. After a two-hour afternoon game drive, leave Tsavo East at 4:00 pm and reach Salt Lick Safari Lodge at 5:00 pm. A one-hour evening game drive in the Taita Hills comes before dinner.

Day 2

Salt Lick Safari Lodge to Diani Beach

A two-hour sunrise game drive at 6:00 am, with breakfast at about 8:00 am and check-out. Depart at 9:00 am for a drive of about 2.5 hours, with lunch at a lodge at 11:30 am, then return to Diani.
