Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your Diani Beach hotel at 5:00 am, followed by a scenic drive along the Mombasa–Nairobi highway towards Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary. As you leave the coast behind, the landscape gradually opens into expansive plains, offering glimpses of rural Kenya and occasional wildlife sightings along the way.
Upon arrival, enjoy a game drive en route to the renowned Salt Lick Safari Lodge, uniquely built on stilts overlooking a busy waterhole that attracts a variety of wildlife throughout the day. Arrive in time for lunch and enjoy a truly unique dining experience while watching elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes gather below.
In the afternoon, relax before heading out for an evening game drive within the sanctuary, known for its high concentration of wildlife in a relatively compact area. After breakfast, depart for Tsavo West National Park with a game drive en route as you exit the sanctuary. Upon entering Tsavo West, explore its diverse landscapes characterized by rolling hills, volcanic terrain, and open savannah.
Visit the famous Mzima Springs, where crystal-clear waters provide a haven for hippos and crocodiles, and continue to the striking Shetani Lava Flow, a vast expanse of black volcanic rock that tells the story of the region’s ancient geological activity.
Proceed to Severin Safari Camp, arriving in time for lunch. After some relaxation, head out for an afternoon game drive in search of elephants, lions, giraffes, and other wildlife that roam this rugged park.
